Anchoring in tiny Meldrum Bay

After leaving Little Current we headed west on smooth seas for Meldrum Bay. This little hamlet lies on the very western coast of Manitoulin Island and is a small little harbour with not much to write about.

We anchored just off the marina and settled in for a quiet night. Eric took Beau ashore (both in life jackets), to explore this few buildings and marina (and to give Beau a walk), and then we enjoyed a great steak dinner on the back deck.

We are so happy with our solar panels and how they enable us to drop anchor and enjoy a peaceful overnight with all of our essentials powered (fridge, TV, kettle etc.). We have both been reading a lot and enjoying a DVD most evenings.

We have decided that it would be very difficult to live full-time here on Manitoulin. There is very little here, apart from small communities and many First Nations reserves. The later, we have enjoyed. Have never seen so much First Nations influence with regards to recreational centers, signage etc. There was a large POW-WOW in Little Current over the long Labour Day Weekend.

Heading west again as weather permits.
