Well, we spent longer in Little Current than planned, but it all turned out just fine. In addition to the 'repair' work that was required, we also accomplished some additional jobs that would not have been tackled until Catan was out of the water sometime in the next year or so:
1. Replaced the bow thruster blade that we lost sometime on Georgian Bay. Eric had an extra aboard.
2. Applied an additional coat of epoxy and anti-fowling bottom coat to the hull plus 6 inches higher on the hull (Eric's preference to better protect us in salt water).
3. Figured out the water holding tank mystery ... aft tank wasn't flowing forward. Tag team effort to address this with a new plastic hose crammed through small spaces from stern to bow through the engine room. Success!
Also had many wonderful visits with our friends Susan & Ken (and their wonderful kids + others). So nice to have 'family' around to make the time even better. They loaned us one of their cars and we explored the island and took in the highlights (Providence Bay, Gore Bay which we loved, M'Chigeeng & Mindemoya). A beautiful island with very little civilization and many wonderful views. We discovered a new family game called 'Wanna Bet', which was an absolute hoot with the Barss clan and saw the entire island from both water & land.
Catan is back in the water where she belongs. We will always remember our visit with friends, and our time 'shipwrecked' on Manitoulin. Off we go!
