Tornado Warning

We left Demopolis yesterday at o-dark-hundred (seriously), and put in a very long day on the river. We covered nearly 100 miles and found ourselves at Bobby’s Fish Camp, near Coffeeville, AL in time for dinner. Bobby’s is a bit of an institution on the river and really is a fish camp, not a marina. There is a 125-foot floating dock which can accommodate 4 large boats. Others can still tie up by rafting onto another boat that is secured to the dock. Below you’ll see that we had Ocean Dancer rafted onto Catan.

We specifically wanted to get to Bobby’s, not for the fish fry, but because a huge storm was expected to go through overnight and we did not want to be on the anchor. We heard the storm roll over during the night, but to our surprise when we checked the weather forecast at 5:45 in the morning, we had a full blown tornado warning and extreme weather warning all around us. Yikes! We all decided to stay put and ride out whatever was coming our way. And Alison went back to bed for a nap.

Thankfully, by noon the worst had passed, radar was clear and we decided to head down river with Ocean Dancer. We ended up having a very nice afternoon on the river (sun came out), and we anchored & rafted with Ocean Dancer for the evening. After a great visit and some cocktails together, we enjoyed a peaceful evening under a starry sky. Another early morning tomorrow and a push to reach Mobile Bay.
