Pirates attacking!

Just a quick note to assure our readers that we have out-waited and outwitted nature, this time around. We departed our tornado hiding anchorage this morning and made our way to north Myrtle Beach. After 3 nights on the hook in one spot contesting with Mother Nature, we were very pleased to tie up to terra firma (a real dock), as opposed to being at anchor. We were very pleased to find the free dock vacant upon our arrival and further pleased to learn we were a 10 minute walk to every store conceivable, 3 malls, Walmart and a 12 screen movie cinema.

Just before we headed off to conduct some retail exploring, we were attacked by a pirate ship. What is worse is that we should have known they were lurking. Earlier in the day we came across a pirate looking vessel but it’s abandoned appearance lulled us into passive frame of mind.

However, the next pirate ship was full of crew, all shooting at us with massive water guns! Apparently pirate ship birthday parties and other events are all the rage here on the ICW. It never ceases to amaze me what adventures we face on our loop! One day I'm gator bait and the next we are repelling pirates!

Eventually we were able to get on with basic re-provisioning at Walmart and splurged on a nice meal at Ruby Tuesday's. Tomorrow, Alison would like to go to the Tangier Outlet Mall and then perhaps catch a movie in the afternoon (this will be our first sit down cinema movie since we stated the loop!).

We will appreciate a sound sleep tonight, not having to keep one ear and eye attuned to the anchor disposition. Seriously though…who else can say they encountered pirates while on the loop!
